5 places to eat munchies in Madrid
If you happen to be in Barcelona instead of the capital, we have also got you covered with our 5 Places to Eat Munchies in Barcelona. This is our own curated list of the best spots to kill off the munchies: we have tried every single one of them ourselves and they are all special. Keep reading and check out our top 5.

Zapatilla with lacón and tetilla cheese, a griddled sandwich: Melos Cafe Bar
In the famous Lavapiés neighbourhood, a couple in their 80s run Melos Cafe Bar, a classic Madrid tavern that is an absolute must. The menu has four dishes and the zapatilla is the star of the show: a sandwich made with two thick slices of rustic bread griddled in butter, grilled lacón ham and tetilla cheese. We would bet good money it is one of the best things you will ever taste. Try the giant ham croquettes or the cheese with quince paste too, while you knock back a cold Mahou.

Torreznos, crispy fried pork belly, and draught beer: Bar Cervantes
Right in the central Barrio de las Letras you will find one of the great temples of torreznos and beer, a must in the capital. Swing by Bar Cervantes, drink the best poured caña (a small draught beer) in the neighbourhood and pair it with some proper torreznos from Soria: you will be in heaven in under two minutes.

Brunch: Café Comercial
If brunch is your thing, the one at Café Comercial is on another level. It costs 30 euros, but they will need a crane to get you out with the amount of food you are about to put away: pancakes, fresh pastries, cold cuts, juices, cereals, yoghurts, burgers... A must if you are heading to Madrid.

Pincho de tortilla, a wedge of Spanish potato omelette: Loreto Coffee Bar
Madrid is famous for how well its bartenders pour draught beer and for its tortilla de patatas. If you are one of those people who likes it without onion and still runny in the middle, the pincho de tortilla at this Malasaña bar is on another level. Pair it with a café con leche and you have got a 10 out of 10 breakfast.

Acai bowl: Alma Libre
Veganism is everywhere these days and it is always good to have options for the vegan friendly crowd. Alma Libre Acai Bar is a must on the vegan scene: order an acai bowl (a kind of ice cream made from a Brazilian fruit similar to the blueberry), a delicious, vegan and different munchie that will come in handy to balance out everything else you have put away over the last few days.
