Bit by bit the restrictions are falling away and you can breathe a bit of that pre pandemic freedom again. It is still early to leave the country, but a weekend somewhere in Spain is a great option. If you are off to Barcelona and have no plan, keep reading: we are recommending 5 places to eat munchies in the Ciudad Condal, as Barcelona is also known. And if the capital is more your thing, here are our 5 Places to Eat Munchies in Madrid as well.
5 places to eat munchies in Barcelona

Pastelería Hofmann
This high end patisserie is probably the most interesting stop if you want to come down off a smoke with quality munchies. It belongs to the Hofmann group, which already has a Michelin starred restaurant in the city. If you are into sweet stuff, you are going to feel like Charlie in the chocolate factory here: try their famous croissants and settle the cravings in a proper top level patisserie.

Veggie Garden
This vegan Indian, with two spots in the centre of Barcelona, is perfect for getting your mates into vegan food. The flavour of their 10 euros daily set menu (two courses, dessert and a drink) will surprise you. We have taken mates who properly hate on veganism and they could not believe the dishes had no meat in them.

Can Paixano
This classic tavern in Barceloneta is barely known among tourists, but it is a key spot for locals. This is where you get your hands on the best frankfurters and cured meat sandwiches in the city. We recommend the sparkling rosé cava they make by hand and, to eat, the txuleta de llom fumat, a smoked pork loin chop with a name that could not suit this blog any better.

Iguazú
If you want to eat the best chargrilled Argentinian cuts a few metres from Barceloneta beach, the Iguazú grill house is your temple of meat. It is run by two Pakistani brothers who lived in Uruguay for a decade, where they picked up the best techniques and recipes. For very little you get to enjoy cuts like entraña (skirt steak), vacío (flank steak) or bife de chorizo (sirloin strip).

Maoz Vegetarian
This tiny restaurant near the Plaza Real is like the vegan McDonald’s. At Maoz you are going to try the best falafel of your life: for 6 euros, a menu with an all you can eat buffet of fillings and sauces so you can load it up exactly how you like. Special mention for the homemade chips. Ideal for a quick snack before carrying on with your trip.
