Lighting is key
The fact that light shapes your mood is nothing new, there are studies that back it up.
Having warm light lamps spread nicely around the living room is key to getting the right vibe going. Be a good shaman of ceremonies and light the smoking den up properly.
Steer clear of those cold, white lights you get in a grotty bar. You are better off lighting a few candles and building an atmosphere where everybody feels comfortable.
A comfy space and, if possible, natural light
If there is natural light, even better: smoking with a sense of space and the sun on your face is a pleasure. One joint in the sun soon turns into two.
It also matters that there are enough sofas for all your stoner brothers and sisters. Having a spare bed around is fine too: we all have that one mate who is out cold after the first one.
Buy munchies like there is no tomorrow
You already know how it goes: the hunger starts biting the moment you kill the first roach.
Having all kinds of food is key, but the one thing you cannot run out of is sugar. These sessions are like an all you can eat buffet: whoever rolls the most joints wins.
You never know when things are going to get a bit much, so it is always better to keep something to munch on within reach.
Music or, failing that, films
A session is a five senses experience.
We have already sorted the food, the lighting and a few comfy sofas. Now it is time to keep your guests entertained with something to watch or listen to.
There are some legendary stoner films out there, but if picking one feels like too much hassle, just stick on a good playlist and forget about it.
Do not let the kit run short
Having every other detail under control and then running out of papers or lighters is like turning up for a kickabout without the ball.
